Van Gogh’s Sunflower Bistro

In this project I branded an entire restaurant, creating its business system, menu, advertisements, branding guide, and all of the collateral. The restaurant had to be inspired by an artist and was in New Orleans near the New Orleans Museum of Art. Inspired by my interest in Post-Impressionism my restaurant was modeled after Van Gogh and his famous sunflowers, which is what my logo is based on. The logo uses the script font Kinescope paired with the san serif Nobel to create a logotype that implies the casual elegance of the restaurant. The menu has drawings of the food, styled after Van Gogh’s well known broad strokes and swirls, and it uses the serif font Georgia in the food’s descriptions for easier readability. The menu and to go containers use natural looking materials to create a more artistic and authentic experience. The sunflower icon is repeated throughout the brand, whether a complete sunflower, or only a half or quarter.
