The Three Penny Opera Poster

This assignment was to illustrate an advertisement for a steampunk retelling of Kurt Weill’s The Three Penny Opera held by Murray State University’s Music and Theatre Departments.  I chose to illustrate the iconic bowler hat and knife of the main character “Mack the Knife”, as well as the titular three pennies in a simple but easily recognizable style.  The background is a dark maroon to match the tone of the play, with a pattern of gears on it to tie into the steampunk elements of the performance.  I used a script font in the title to give the composition the dignity the play tries for, but falls short in.
